Brighton vs Ipswich Town Player Ratings

Brighton vs Ipswich Town Player Ratings as both teams play goalless at Amex Stadium

Brighton failed to claim the three-point when hosting a newly-promoted team Ipswich Town. Despite playing in front of the noisy Amex Stadium crowd, The Seagulls didn’t make it to touch the opponents’ net. With both teams exchanging attacks for the whole match, the game ended goalless.

Ipswich’s Arijanet Muric played so well, making six saves to keep his net untouched until the final whistle. With this result, Ipswich got two consecutive draw results, putting them right above the relegation zone with two points.

Goalkeeper

Bart Verbruggen – 7.3

The Dutch goalkeeper made several important saves in the game and one of Brighton’s players showed a decent performance in this match.

Defenders

Joël Veltman – 7.5

Another Dutch player in Brighton’s squad, apart from defending he also helped The Seagulls in several attacking attempts which put Ipswich under pressure.

Jan Paul van Hecke – 7.4

Defended well in the midfield alongside his fellow Dutchman, Veltman, and also Lewis Dunk. Intercepted and cleared the ball off of the area multiple times.

Lewis Dunk – 7.2

Put up a solid performance in the defensive area, denying Ipswich’s chances after chances throughout the match.

Jack Hinshelwood 7.1

He picked up a yellow but it didn’t stop him from putting up a good performance with the duels he won and the total of tackles he made.

Midfielders

Carlos Noom Quomah Baleba – 7.4

Made a solid midfield partnership alongside Ayari and Minteh. Backed up Mitoma who was not doing well down the flank.

Yasin Ayari – 7.3

Stood out in the midfield, connecting the defensive and attacking sides and vice versa. He opened the spaces to create chances but the goal never came.

Karou Mitoma – 6.5

Seemed a little bit down today as he didn’t play at the level he usually showcases on the flank side.

Yankuba Minteh – 6.3

Showed a calm and composed performance in the midfield, intercepting the opponents’ passing attempts into his defensive area.

Forwards

Georginio Rutter – 7.3

He was actively attacking and putting the Ipswich defenders under siege but the goal he expected just never came due to an outstanding performance by Ipswich goalkeeper Arijanet Muric.

Danny Welbeck – 6.9

Failed to find the back of the net as many fans were expecting from him in the home game against a newly-promoted side.

Substitutions

Julio Enciso – 6.7

Worked mostly on the left-hand side of his team side, Enciso had one shot on target and won one ground duel.

Ferdi Kadioglu – 6.4

A good introduction for the Amex crowd. Kadioglu replaced Hinshelwood in the second half and appeared for 22 minutes, touching the ball 26 times.

Simon Adingra – 6.6

Adingra had his only shot in the match blocked and that was his only significant contribution in goal-searching attempts by Brighton.

Evan Ferguson – 6.7

The club’s one of the most admired players couldn’t find the back of the net today. He had a shot opportunity but the ball went off the target, let alone a goal.

Goalkeeper

Arijanet Muric – 9.1

Muric made six saves which made his net still untouched when the game ended. He was one of the most outstanding players in this game with such performance.

Defenders

Leif Davis – 7.4

Worked hard amid the intense pressure from home crowds and was a good backup for Phillips and Szmodicz who played on his line.

Jacob Greaves -7.6

One of the busiest Ipswich players on the pitch as he worked hard intercepting and clearing the ball from his area.

Dara O’Shea – 8.1

Another reason why Ipswich snatched a point from their away visit to Amex. O’Shea was bobbing and weaving to defend his team and kept the clean sheet which he did.

Axel Tuanzebe – 6.8

Worked hard down the flank to put more pressure on the opponents. However, the goal just never came as multiple chances were denied or went off the target.

Midfielders

Kalvin Phillips – 6.9

Gained his playing time gradually since coming from City. He wandered around the pitch to make sure his team could retain the possession.

Sam Morsy – 6.8

Alongside Phillips and Hutchinson, Morsy guarded the midfield area. Ensuring the ball flow transitioned well from defending to attacking and vice versa.

Omari Hutchinson – 6.9

Created chances and open spaces multiple times for Brighton. However, Ipswich’s goalkeeper played so well denying chances and shots.

Forwards

Sammie Szmodics – 6.8

Got his attempts blocked and denied by the opponents’ defenders and goalkeeper. Szmodics came off in the second half without putting his name on the score sheet.

Wes Burns – 6.7

Frustratedly trying to find the back of the net throughout the match, Arijanet Muric’s performance was out of this world.

Liam Delap – 6.2

Couldn’t do much in the opposition’s box, let alone score a goal. Delap made way for Hirst in the second half with one shot hitting the woodwork.

Substitutions

Conor Chaplin – 6.6

Not much he can do with coming on five minutes into the added times. He only managed to touch the ball four times and was fouled once.

Massimo Luongo – 6.6

Had the same case with Chaplin as both players came at the same time. Luongo won one duel during his nine-minute appearance on the pitch.

Jack Clarke – 6.6

Not a bad performance from the York-born delivering one accurate long pass from one attempt and one shot that went off target.

George Hirst – 6.7

Expected to score a goal for his team, the opposition’s goalkeeper played tremendously well and that was the reason why Brighton failed to score at home.

Chiedozie Ogbene – 6.7

Played down the flank for 31 minutes without a successful cross and long pass. However, he won three ground duels despite losing the possession four times.

Manager:

Kieran McKenna – 7

McKenna managed to put his players together and snatched a point from the opponents’ home ground. His substitutions didn’t work actually as none of his players scored.
