Bukayo Saka Injury Update: The Gunners dealt a scary blow amidst Man United clash at Old Trafford
The Premier League title chasers Arsenal registered a hard-fought 0-1 victory over Man United at Old Trafford in their recent league outing. With the win the Gunners pretty much stayed in the hunt for the 2023-2024 Premier League silverware, closely following Man City and giving them stern competition in the ongoing top-flight campaign.
However, during the 81st minute of the game against United when Arsenal where desperately trying to hang onto their lead, their star winger Bukayo Saka suffered an injury scare. The 22-year-old was spotted in some discomfort after an on-field collision with an opponent’s player. Although Saka managed to play a fair bit after the injury scare, he was eventually forced to leave the field as his discomfort from the earlier collision continued to bother him.
Arsenal did eventually manage to close the game out and hang onto their lead and got all three crucial points on the day, but the Bukayo Saka injury scare seemed a bit worrying for Gunner’s team management at that moment. He’s been a consistent performer of the North London team this season and pretty much the recognized x-factor to their overall game plan.
The right-winger has laced in 16 goals and nine assists to his name in the 35 matches played for the Gunners in the Premier League this season so far. Arsenal title hopes are still up in the air with Man City set to face Tottenham Hotspur in their next league clash. Amidst all these Mikel Arteta would not want to lose his star winger to any major injury woes.
What does Mikel Arteta have to say about Bukayo Saka’s injury scare?
As Bukayo Saka injury scare led to his substitution during the closing stages of the match, the Gunners fans around the world held their breath tight hoping that it must be just a minor blow that could be shrugged off before their home fixture against Everton arrives. In his post-match conference, Mikel Arteta was asked about the update on the 22-year-old winger’s situation.
As per the reports, Arteta calmly replied – “Yeah, he (Saka) should be fine“. Arsenal already have their other injury concerns in the form of Jurrien Timber who is pretty much on the path of his recovery and getting back to the first-team squad after going through an ACL injury. All Arsenal can do is win their remaining fixture against the Toffees, and hope Man City has a slip-up in their last two fixtures, but to do that they would need players like Saka fully fit and available.
