Xavi Hernandez and Carlo Ancelotti

“It’s not in writing” – Carlo Ancelotti comments on Xavi’s decision to stay at Barcelona

Xavi Hernandez will stay for another season with Barcelona as Barcelona president confirmed yesterday. Speaking to the media in Real Madrid’s training facility in Valdebebas, Xavi’s arch rival and Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti supported the decision.

Ancelotti felt that Xavi was the best option Barcelona have at the moment. As a Barca through and through, the four-time Champions League winner is regarded as someone who knows the club really well.

“I think Xavi has done a good job at Barcelona,” Ancelotti said via Sportskeeda. “He knows the club very well and it seems to me to be the correct decision to stay.

“We have to respect that people can change their opinion. It’s not in writing. How many times have I changed opinion in my career? It’s allowed.”

Madrid beat Barcelona recently at Santiago Bernabeu, extending their lead on top of the table to eleven points which pushed them closer to the title this season. Personally for Ancelotti, he has met Xavi 10 times as a manager, winning six out of them and losing four.
