United States National Women’s Soccer Team (USWNT) player Catarino Macario will miss the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics after reportedly suffering a knee injury leading up to the prestigious event. Macario has been repudiated from the teams’ squad after her injury was confirmed, as the national team’s coach Emma Hayes laid out to the press.
“She (Catarina Macario) has minor knee irritation, which means she won’t recover in time for the games”, Emma Hayes reportedly asserted. Meanwhile, the forward player herself expressed her feelings on one of her social media handles after withdrawing from the Paris Olympics squad due to injury.

On her official ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) handle, Macario wrote – “Gutted to have to withdraw. I will be supporting the team every step of the way and the girls are ready”. As for the 24-year-old’s replacement, official reports have inflicted that Lynn Williams will fill in for Catarina Macario in the upcoming Paris Olympics.
USWNT is slotted to face Zambia in their opening match of the event. It remains to be seen how Emma Hayes’ side copes in the absence of first-choice forward – Macario.
