Chelsea and Manchester City queue for Real Madrid’s Tchouameni

According to media outlet Fichajes in Spain, Premier League clubs Chelsea and Manchester City could be interested in the signature of Aurelien Tchouameni from Real Madrid. The Frenchman signed for Los Blancos in 2022 and since then has been a key part of the squad that won the Champions League and La Liga double last season.

The report states that Chelsea could be prepared to part with as much as £120 million to secure the services of the defensive midfielder. While it is true that the Blues were heavily linked to him before his move to the Bernabeu, signing him now would just be a continuation of their confusing transfer strategy. Enzo Marcesca already has the likes of Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia and Renato Veiga as options in deeper midfield areas while the likes of Andrey Santos and Lesley Ugochukwu are away on loan.

Manchester City are in need of a defensive midfielder. They have lost the best in the world in that position for the rest of the season as Rodri was subbed off in the Arsenal game with a torn ACL and meniscus damage. Reports suggest that they are looking at the likes of Torino’s Samuele Ricci, Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi and Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes as possible replacements for the Spain international.

However, if Tchouameni were to be available somehow, City would almost certainly be in for him. That being said, there is no real reason or possibility that Real Madrid actually let Tchouameni leave, given his importance in the squad.
