Cole Palmer has been putting in shifts for Chelsea.
Cole Palmer Stats: England international makes Chelsea history
Chelsea star Cole Palmer scored his side’s opening goal during the Premier League home game against West Ham United. Palmer scored the opening goal for his side in the 15th minute. The strike marked his 21st Premier League goal of the season. He has also provided nine assists this term, taking his goal contribution tally to 30.
He has now become the first player since Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink to make 30 goal contributions for Chelsea in his debut season for Chelsea. Palmer was signed from Manchester City in the summer and has since been a regular source of goals for Chelsea. His consistency has been truly stunning.
Chelsea are currently leading 4-0 at Stamford Bridge with Conor Gallagher, Noni Madueke, and Nicolas Jackson also finding the back of the net. After defeating Tottenham Hotspur 2-0, the Blues look well on course to win another London derby.
David Moyes says West Ham were close to signing Cole Palmer before Chelsea
Cole Palmer wanted to leave Manchester City in the summer as he wanted regular game time. Palmer’s talent was well-touted and several Premier League took interest in him, with Chelsea and West Ham being two of them. West Ham boss David Moyes said (via Mirror):
“It was close, close. You can imagine the other part of it, the possibility of someone leaving here that might have made it work. I was in regular contact with his agent, we were well on the road with it. It just changed at the end and we couldn’t do it.”
Palmer has found a new home at Chelsea and has been performing at a very high level for the Stamford Bridge club since his summer move. He rarely fails to make a contribution in the team’s attack.
