Flamengo Forward Pedro to Chelsea

Chelsea Eyeing Flamengo Forward Pedro as Potential Transfer Target

Chelsea Football Club is reportedly weighing up a move for Flamengo forward Pedro as they seek to bolster their attacking options.

Despite showing signs of improvement in recent matches, Chelsea’s performances in the final third have not always been convincing this season. With Armando Broja loaned out to Fulham and Christopher Nkunku sidelined due to injury, there is a need for additional firepower up front.

While Nicolas Jackson has shown promise with seven goals and three assists in the Premier League this season, doubts remain over his ability to consistently lead Chelsea’s attack.

The Blues have been linked with Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, but the hefty £111m release clause presents a financial challenge for the club’s owners, who must ensure compliance with Premier League financial regulations by June 30.

In light of this, Chelsea are considering Pedro as a potential alternative to Osimhen, according to reports from Brazilian media outlet O Dia. The 26-year-old forward is highly regarded in Brazil, having earned six caps for his country and impressed with his performances for Flamengo.

Since 2020, Pedro has contributed 107 goals and 23 assists in 221 appearances, helping Flamengo win the Brazilian league title and the Copa Libertadores. With his contract running until 2027, Flamengo holds a strong position in negotiations.

However, Chelsea could pursue a deal for Pedro at a reported fee of €25m (£21.36m). The London club has a history of doing business with Brazilian clubs, having signed players like Andrey Santos, Angelo, and Deivid Washington in recent times.

Unlike those acquisitions, Pedro would be expected to make an immediate impact at Chelsea, providing a solution to their attacking woes as they aim for success in the upcoming seasons.
