The England midfielder has been a mainstay at Chelsea (Chelsea Transfer) under Mauricio Pochettino and has arguably been the club’s player of the season. But the midfielder faces an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge with his contract expiring in the summer of 2025.
The 24-year-old midfielder is yet to sign a contract extension, meaning Chelsea risks the possibility of losing him free next summer. Gallagher was linked with an exit in the summer and Tottenham Hotspur were considered frontrunners for the Chelsea academy graduate.
The Blues have reportedly slapped a £80 million price tag on the midfielder but they would struggle to get such an unwarranted amount due to the player’s contract situation.
The speculation over his future will only get intensified as we inch closer to the summer window but Pochettino is keen on having him for the coming season.

Chelsea are also under pressure to offload some of their star players this summer to adhere to the Financial Fair Player regulations and Gallagher could be one of the players who might be sacrificed.
But Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Seth believes the English midfielder could just run down his contract which is the last thing Chelsea wants.
“Gallagher could stay there and see out his contract,” Sheth told GIVEMESPORT.
“That is the last thing Chelsea will want to do because they know, and they’ve used this in the last couple of seasons when they’ve tried to comply with all of the financial regulations, particularly when it comes to players who have come through the academy at Chelsea, everything that goes in the books when they sell those players goes down as pure profit.”
If Chelsea are unable to extend the midfielder’s contract by the summer, they would be forced to cash in on Gallagher to avoid him leaving on a free transfer in 2025.
