Cole Palmer excluded from Chelsea squad for UEFA Conference League

EPL giants Chelsea FC have left their 22-year-old attacking midfield maestro Cole Palmer out of their UEFA Conference League squad! The move comes as a shocker as Palmer has been one of the most important players for Chelsea.

Romeo Lavia and Wesley Fofana have been excluded too.

Chelsea FC have the biggest squad in the Premier League this season. Of those players, stars like Cole Palmer, Romeo Lavia, and Wesley Fofana have been excluded from the list of players representing the London-based side in the European competition.

As per journalist Fabrizio Romano, this bold move has been taken by the Blues to manage the extensive load Chelsea FC players would face in the season ahead, which could extend till July 2025, as the coveted Club World Cup is scheduled too. The move can prove to be a wise one, as this shall reduce the risk of new injuries.

Cole Palmer has been one of the top performers in not just Chelsea, but the entire Europe last season. The player has been in superb form in the Premier League this season too. In three matches he featured in so far, he hails five goal contributions.

The youngster has also been nominated for the prestigious Ballon d’Or list yesterday. The English lad was also among the top 6 young players in the PFA Awards 2024. His exclusion might backfire on Chelsea’s competition hopes, but fans might keep calm knowing that the list can be changed in January 2025, when the competition turns intense.

Chelsea FC are scheduled to play Belgian top division side Gent in the campaign opener, which will be played at the iconic Stamford Bridge on the first week of October this year.
