Cole Palmer Stats: Youngster becomes first Chelsea player to rack up both Goal of the Month and Player of the Month awards

For the first time in five seasons, a Chelsea player has been awarded the Player of the Month award. Club legend Eden Hazard was the last Blues player to claim the award way back in September 2018.

Palmer also won the Goal of the Month award for his superb opener in the 6-0 win over Everton where he nutmegged Jarrad Branthwaite before curling into the bottom-left corner. He also bagged the award after an incredible month in which he scored seven goals and created an assist.

The 22-year-old England attacker has already won Chelsea Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year awards earlier this month. He is the first Chelsea player to win EA Sports Player of the Month and Budweiser Goal of the Month in the same month.

Palmer has followed the legendary footsteps of Eden Hazard who was the last Blues player to receive the accolade.

He’s also in the running for the EA Sports Player of the Season and Hublot Young Player of the Season awards. Palmer is second in running for the Premier League Golden Boot award with 21 goals, just four behind his former Man City compatriot Erling Haaland. His performances earned him two senior international caps earlier this season.

It has been a remarkable week for the Man City academy graduate and he would likely finish the campaign with the most assists for Chelsea this term.

How has Cole Palmer performed for Chelsea this season?

The England international is an undisputed starter in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad, registered 26 goals and providing 13 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions so far.

Palmer sealed a £40 million transfer from Manchester City on deadline day and the move can often been deemed as the signing of the season. He’s expected to be one of the first names on the team sheet for the Three Lions squad in Euro 2024.

The former Man City player could be a dark horse for England in Germany this summer. His exceptional will present a selection dilemma for England boss Gareth Southgate ahead of Euro 2024 as it will be very ardous to break into England’s front-three.
