Conor Gallagher’s future at Chelsea in further conundrum as Atletico Madrid lands other suitor

Chelsea’s star midfielder Conor Gallagher’s future at the Premier League club has been amongst the talks lately. The Blues reportedly have offered the England midfielder a couple of new contracts, but Gallagher has rejected any such proposal. With only one year left on his current contract at Stamford Bridge, clubs like Atletico Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a potential transfer move for the 24-year-old.

While Atletico Madrid’s initial bid for the player was rejected, reports termed that the La Liga club was expected to come back with a slightly higher bid the second time around. However, as per ‘Football London‘, Atletico has agreed on a transfer deal with Valencia for midfielder Javi Guerra. Atletico Madrid will be paying around £19-21 million upfront for the player, while a follow-up £3 million is quoted to be paid as add-ons for the deal.

‘Football London’, also insists that Chelsea left the decision to join Atletico Madrid entirely on Conor Gallagher’s shoulder as the Blues’ reportedly agreed on the other transfer details with the Spanish club. Now with Atletico landing Guerra in the ongoing window, Tottenham might be the only potential suitor left for Gallagher before the window closes.

This certainly lands both Chelsea and Gallagher in a fix as the window is about to shut down and no progress has been made regarding the player’s future as of now with the midfielder into the last year of his contract. What happens from now on, would be intriguing to know.
