Cristiano Ronaldo, Al Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo could make emotional return to Real Madrid with new club Al Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo is being lined up for an emotional return to Real Madrid. This is part of the Spanish club’s extravagant plans to inaugurate their new stadium.

As per Spanish outlet Marca (via The Mirror), Los Blancos president Florentino Perez wants Ronaldo and Al Nassr to the new Santiago Bernabeu for a friendly game. This will likely be a part of the grand opening ceremony and could take place in the winter break for next season (2024/25).

Rumours about Kylian Mbappe’s move to Real Madrid are also gathering pace. There could be a possibility of seeing the Frenchman lace up for Los Blancos against Cristiano Ronaldo. However, with nothing set in stone yet, it remains to be seen whether Mbappe leaves PSG in the upcoming summer.

Madrid president Perez is known for his extravagant and grand ways. Planning a reunion with arguably the club’s greatest-ever marksman is no coincidence.

Cristiano Ronaldo joined Real Madrid from Manchester United in a world record deal worth £80 million back in 2009. He spent nine glorious years in the Spanish capital, earning a name for himself as one of the greatest goal scorers of all-time.

Ronaldo made 438 appearances for Los Blancos across competitions, scoring a whopping 450 goals and providing 131 assists as well. Out of those, 105 goals came in the Champions League as Real established themselves as the greatest UCL side in modern history. During his time in Spain, Ronaldo won several honours. That includes two La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey cups, three FIFA Club World Cups, and four Champions League titles, including a three-peat between 2016-18.

The Portuguese talisman then moved to Juventus in 2018, where he spent three years. He then made a much-anticipated return to Manchester United for one season. When things turned sour, he explored the option of playing in the Saudi Pro League with Al Nassr.

Since moving to Al Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo has rolled back the years with his displays. He has made 44 appearances, scoring 38 goals and providing 13 assists so far. Should he carry on until next winter, it will be interesting if he faces Real Madrid at their new stadium.
