Coach Martinez Calls for Better Security

Portugal’s coach Roberto Martinez voiced his worries about the safety of players.

“It is a concern,” he said. “Today we were lucky that the intentions of the fans were good. But if those intentions were wrong, the players would be exposed. We need to be careful with that. This should not happen on a football pitch.”

Martinez stressed the importance of informing fans that such behaviour is unacceptable.

“It’s not the right way,” he added. “What you do is make the measures stricter for the future. It’s not good to have players so exposed when people are running on the pitch.”

Bernardo Silva’s Take on the Incidents

Bernardo Silva who also scored in the match had a different view.

“It’s just a bit annoying to stop the game because a fan enters the pitch,” Silva said. “That’s the price you pay for being so recognized in the world of football. In terms of feeling in danger, no, not me personally.”

These incidents have highlighted weaknesses in stadium security and the urgent need for stricter measures to protect players during games.
