Cristiano Ronaldo in action for Al-Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo’s teammate rejects $666k contract renewal offer with Al-Nassr: Reports

Winger Ayman Yahya has reportedly rejected a contract renewal proposal from Cristiano Ronaldo-led Al-Nassr. His current contract expires in the summer, post which he will be able to join another club on a free transfer.

Yahya came through Al-Nassr’s U23 side before being loaned out to Al-Ahli for six months in January 2022. He returned to the Knights of Njad that summer and became a key member of the squad.

The Saudi Arabian winger has made 76 appearances for Al-Nassr, scoring 11 goals and providing 11 assists. Yahya has, however, fallen down the pecking order this season, starting just three games across competitions. He has registered one goal and four assists in 16 overall appearances this campaign.

As per Ariyadiyah, Al-Nassr offered Yahya a new contract worth $800,000 per week for three years in December 2023. However, the winger rejected the proposal.

Surprisingly, the club’s chief executive Guido Fenga has lowered the salary bracket in a new offer but increased the contract length. The new deal offers $666,000 per week for four years but the winger still isn’t keen. The 22-year-old is looking for regular playing time and can talk to other clubs from January 15 for a pre-agreement for a potential summer transfer.

Meanwhile, Al-Nassr manager Luis Castro reportedly sees Yahya as a valuable asset due to his versatility and as a squad player. The Saudi Arabian star can play as a left-back but also deputize for the likes of Sadio Mane and Anderson Talisca.

Yahya’s importance was evident during the AFC Champions League qualifier as he provided two assists in Al-Nassr’s 4-2 win over Shabab Al-Ahli.

The Cristiano Ronaldo-led side then topped their group in the competition and will face Al-Feiha over two legs in the Round of 16. The first leg will take place on February 12 while the second leg will be played a week later.
