Rob Holding will not play for Crystal Palace against Newcastle on Wednesday night in the Premier League due to a recent setback in his injury.
Rob Holding Set to Miss Next 2 Games
Rob Holding of Crystal Palace has suffered yet another setback in his unfortunate season as he is now facing another injury. Due to a hamstring injury, the defender is anticipated to miss at least the next two games, including Wednesday’s Premier League meeting against Newcastle.
Holding, who joined from Arsenal last summer on a transfer fee of just £4 million, is facing yet another challenge in his quest to break into the starting lineup.
The 28-year-old was able to secure a spot on the bench for Sunday’s 5-2 triumph over West Ham despite having to undergo ankle surgery.
Despite his efforts to regain fitness, Holding’s appearances for the Eagles have been limited, with his sole outing coming in the Carabao Cup clash against Manchester United back in September.
Crystal Palace Boss Oliver Glasner’s Comments on Rob Holding
Eagles boss Oliver Glasner expressed disappointment over Holding’s latest setback, stating,
“Unfortunately Rob Holding is injured again. It’s tough because he’s just back from injury. We don’t know the degree but it’s something with his hamstring, so we don’t know how long it will take.”
Confirming Holding’s absence for the Newcastle encounter and likely the subsequent fixture against Fulham, Glasner lamented,
“When you come back after a long injury and work so hard, and then see him smiling in training with the team and his first time in the squad… But sometimes it happens, especially if you are not used to team training or your body isn’t used to it.”
Concluding his remarks, Glasner emphasized the need to learn from Holding’s injury ordeal, stating,
“It happened and we have to accept and learn from it so that it doesn’t happen again.”
