Damac FC: A Quick Roundup of The Summer Transfer Window 2023

Saudi Pro League set to fire the Football World in the Transfer Market. The League is helped by the wealthy Public Investment Fund of the Nation. After the Arrival of the Portuguese Superstar Cristiano Ronaldo in the Saudi Pro League in December 2022, a trend started to move to the Saudi Pro League that caused the sideline of European football.

The Saudi Pro League has spent 889 Million euros in the Summer transfer market this season. Top clubs of the league like Al-Nassr, Al-Hilal, Al-Ittihad, and Al-Ahli have signed football stars such as Sadio Mane, Neymar JR, Karim Benzema, Fabino Ruben Neves, etc.  Apart from those big clubs, small ones such as Damac FC also make moves in the summer transfer window. Here’s a comprehensive list of players who made the lucrative switch to the Middle East in recent months.

Who signed for Damac FC?

Damac FC is a professional football club in Khamis Mushait, Saudi Arabia. It was established in 1972. Damac FC is currently in the 10th position in the Saudi Pro League 2023-2024 season and last year they finished in the 8th position. They have won the Saudi Second Divison 2 times in the 1980-81 and the 2014-2015 Season.

Damac FC currently has 9 foreign players out of 33. They have an Algerian Goalkeeper Moustapha Zeghba and Centre Back- Abdelkader Bedrane and Farouk Chafaï gives strength to the Defence of Damac FC. They have experienced Central Midfielders Domagoj Antolic and Adam Maher along with veteran strikers Ahmad Al-Zain and Fahad Al-Juhani who attacked the defence of the opposition team. 

Assan Ceesay (Leece)- reported €2.80m fee

Gambian Centre Forward Assan Ceesay signed the Damac FC for a three-year deal on August 15, 2023, from Italian Club Leece. He won the 2021–22 Swiss Super League with FC Zurich and scored 20 goals in that season. He will look to continue his magic in the Saudi Pro League for the Damac FC.

Nicolae Stanciu (WH Three Towns)- €2.50m fee

The 30-year-old Romanian Attacking Midfielder and Winger Nicolae Stanciu signed the Saudi Arabian Club Damac FC with the €2.50m transfer fee on September 8, 2023, from WH Three Towns. The deal is valid from 2023 to 2027 with a release clause amounting to €26,400,000. He has the experience to play in the Saudi Pro League as he was signed by the Al-Ahli in 2019. 

Abdulaziz Al-Bishi (Al-Ittihad Club) Loan Transfer

Damac FC has signed the Saudi Arabian winger Abdulaziz Al-Bishi on a free loan transfer from Al-Ittihad on July 11, 2023. The deal will be valid up to June 30, 2024. He won the Saudi Pro League title in 2022-2023 with Al-Ittihad. 

Georges-Kevin N’Koudou (Besiktas) Free Transfer 

Former Spurs winger Georges-Kevin N’Koudou moved to the Saudi Arabian Club Damac FC on a free transfer from Besiktas. He was a free agent after his contract expired in 2023 with Besiktas and on August 15, 2023, he joined the Damac FC.  

Tarek Hamed (Al-Ittihad Club) Free Transfer

Tarek Hamed signed a two-year deal with the Damac FC and he will play for the  Damac FC till 2025. Egyptian Defensive Midfielder previously played for Al-Ittihad, where he signed a two-year deal with them after that he became a free agent. On September 4, 2023, he signed with Damac FC on a Free Transfer.  

Fahad Al-Juhani (Al-Tai) Free Transfer

Fahad Al-Juhani joined the Damac FC on a free transfer from Al-Tai on July 11, 2023. He has played for different Saudi Arabian Clubs in his entire career Al-Hilal, Al-Raed and Al-Qadsiah are such clubs. 

Noor Al-Rashidi (A-lWehda) Free Transfer

Former Al-Wehda Defender moved to Damac FC on July 18, 2023, as a free agent. 

Abdulrahman Al-Obaid (Al-Hilal)

Abdulrahman Al-Obaid signed a deal with Damac FC on September 8, 2023, after the one-year loan deal with Al-Ettifaq ended. The contact details with Damac FC have yet to be released by the club.

Cosmin Contra, Damac Fc

The Former Getafe Player Cosmin Contra coached the Suadi Arabian Club in the 2022-2023 season. Al-Ittihad fired him in July 2022 and after 8 months,  on March 6, 2023, he was appointed as the coach of Saudi Arabian Club Damac FC till 2024. Under Contra’s reign, his team has won 2 matches out of their 9 league games with 3 losses and 4 draws in the 2023-2024 season of the Saudi Pro League. In the King’s Cup, he has won 1 game with his team.    

Who else was linked?

Saudi Pro League grew after the inclusion of Cristino Ronaldo last year. The other clubs are also keen to add overseas players to their squads but due to a lack of capital, they have failed to sign overseas giants to their squads in the summer transfer window of 2023, as the Leauge progresses, there will be a high chance of more foreign players to be signed by the club in January Window 2024.
