Manchester United star Diogo Dalot has termed Erik ten Hag as a leader. The Dutchman’s future is under the scanner at the moment. United finished eighth in the league this season, their worst in the Premier League era.
Ten Hag, as a result, has come under scrutiny. There are doubts whether he is the right man to take the United project forward. Dalot, however, has backed Ten Hag, saying (via GOAL):
“We look to him as our leader. Normally this is what leaders do; they always take the bullets for everyone. But make no mistake about it, don’t misunderstand it – we take responsibility for what we do on the pitch.”
He further added:
“Obviously he tries to give his best, we try to give our best. But this is the type of connection that we need to have, with players and with the manager and we have a good connection with him. And he’s been an amazing manager in terms of trying to put us back on top.”
Manchester United’s injury issues haven’t been helpful for Ten Hag either. United have been significantly waned by fitness issues all over the pitch, especially in the defense. The Red Devils still have a game remaining in their season as they play Manchester City in the FA Cup final. A turbulent season could yet end with silverware for Ten Hag’s side.
Diogo Dalot reflects on Manchester United’s difficult season under Erik ten Hag
Diogo Dalot has claimed that Manchester United didn’t have an easy season due to various reasons. Dalot also brought up that the team managed a tp-four finish last term. Dalot, however, has claimed that the team need to march forward amid criticism. He said (via GOAL):
“We did it last season. This season was really difficult due to a lot of things we already talked about. But the message is that we are together as a team. We are connected. We want to go forward. We need to be ready for every kind of criticism that is going to happen. Because you are one of the biggest clubs in the world.”
Dalot, however, has been an important player for the team this season. He has been voted the Player of the Season by his teammates. Dalot and United look to finish the season strong with a good result against City in the Cup final. Pep Guardiola’s side won 2-1 when the two sides met last year.
