Emi Martinez Transfer: Chelsea Keen On Signing Goalkeeper

Emi Martinez Transfer: Chelsea are all set to reignite interest

The search for a new number one intensifies as Chelsea are on track for signing Aston Villa’s goalkeeper Enzo Martinez.

As per reports, the Blues have had their eyes on the Argentina World Cup winner since last summer but had second thoughts about paying the big money.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino and the club’s goalkeeping coach Ben Roberts have been continuous admirers of Enzo Martinez.

On the other hand, with losses of over £ 119.6 million last year, Villa has raised eyebrows as selling players is their only option to stay on the safer side of Premier League PSR rules.

A new goalkeeper is on top of the to-do list for Chelsea next summer with England pair Jordan Pickford and Aaron Ramsdale on their potential options as well.

Emi Martinez Transfer: Will Chelsea’s interest be fruitful?

Despite Chelsea having Sanchez and Petrovic for guarding the back of the net, Pochettino still feels a puzzle is missing.

However, Pochettino genuinely believes that Martinez could be the answer to all their problems as he is one of the best show-stoppers in the Premier League.

Last season as per stats Martinez had the fifth-highest save rate of 74.2% in the division.

“He is unbelievable, isn’t he?”, said former Aston Villa goalkeeper Nigel Spink recently while peaking about Martinez.

If everything goes well Pochettino and Enzo Fernandez will welcome one of their compatriots with open arms to Stamford Bridge in the coming transfer window.

Sanchez and Petrovic have not reached the underwhelming point in search of a new No.1 for Chelsea. However, Martinez is so good that if an opportunity comes their way, the Blues should probably grab it by the collar and take it forward. Looking at how things are playing it looks like their future looks bright.
