English Premier League Highlights: Key Moments from Gameweek 21

Gameweek 21 of the Premier League 2023/24 season has finally concluded after Brighton’s goalless draw against Wolves at the Falmer Stadium.

With just 17 more game weeks to go before the season concludes, the race for the title gets intense with each passing match week. Three teams out of the top four are currently tied at 43 points each with some interesting upcoming clashes.

Meanwhile, the battle to stay afloat in the Premier League next season also continues to grow fierce with 17th-placed Everton and 18th-placed Luton Town separated by just a single point.

Salah-less Liverpool put four past Bournemouth at the Vitality stadium while Arsenal finally ended their four-game winless streak.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have been in brilliant form this season and established dominance once again with a 4-0 win against Bournemouth away, at the Vitality stadium, even without Mohamed Salah who has joined the Egyptian National team for the ongoing African Cup of Nations. Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota both scored a brace for the Reds with all four goals coming in the second half.

Liverpool are currently the table toppers of the Premier League this season with 48 points in 21 games and are five points clear of Manchester City who are second with a game in hand and are tied with the likes of Arsenal and Aston Villa at 43 points.

Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal successfully bagged the three points against Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace with a massive 5-0 victory at the Emirates. The Gunners were also successful in ending a poor run of form having lost both their previous games in the Premier League. Gabriel Martinelli was at the double for the Red and Whites in the final minutes of the game while Gabriel and Leandro Trossard scored a goal each along with an own goal from Palace Goalkeeper, Dean Henderson.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City traveled to St. James’ Park this week to take on Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United. With both teams in the hunt for the three points, the game was beautifully poised at 2-2 after Kevin De Bruyne’s equalizer in the 74th minute. Just when it looked like both the teams would have to share the spoils, the Belgian set up 20-year-old Oscar Bobb with a beautiful pass and the youngster made no mistake in rounding off the goalkeeper to score a sumptuous goal in stoppage time, sealing the three points for the Sky Blues.

With this massive victory against Eddie Howe’s men, City have now jumped to the second position in the table with a game in hand and are currently 5 points behind the table toppers and rivals, Liverpool. Meanwhile, Newcastle United have now lost four Premier League games in a row and have now slipped to 10th position in the table.

Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea have been struggling for the majority of the 2023/24 Premier League season but have shown recent signs of regaining form after the Premier League wins in a row, the latest of them being a 1-0 win against Marco Silva’s Fulham at home.

Former Manchester City youngster and in-form Cole Palmer scored the only goal of the game via a penalty at the end of the first half. Chelsea are now ninth in the table with 31 points in 21 games, a point behind their rivals, Manchester United who held Tottenham in a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford.
