Enzo Fernandez had to wrap his season earlier so he could heal his inguinal hernia disease through surgery. The operation went well as the former Benfica midfielder posted a delightful selfie with his wife Valentina Cervantes.

The Argentinian wore a post-surgery robe, wrapping his right hand around his wife’s neck with a smile on their faces. Already being ruled out of Chelsea’s remaining games this season, Enzo still hopes to be fit when representing his country in Copa America.
Mirror reported that it will take around three weeks for Enzo to recover. However, he would still require more time to regain his fitness level back before getting his feet back on the pitch. The Blues are reportedly confident that all of the rehabilitation process is going on the right track.
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino revealed that Enzo was holding back his pain before deciding to accept the surgery option. He took part in Chelsea’s recent humiliating 5-0 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium this week.
In the meantime, Chelsea will keep monitoring Enzo’s condition. Pochettino has assured that the club are looking for the best options for Enzo, pointing out how instrumental the World Cup winner for the club is.
“We always assess him day by day,” Pochettino said via The Athletic. “We need to protect him because he is a young guy and the present is important but so is the future.”
