Bayern Munich may have lost the Bundesliga title this season. But Eric Dier meant business when Bayern faced VFB Stuttgart away at MHPArena. In the 28th minute, the host attempted an attack from the left-hand side of their flank.
Serhou Guirassy slammed the ball into an open net but Dier was standing in the way, blocking the shot using his head. The heroic save from the former Tottenham Hotspur defender resulted in blood on his forehead as the game stayed level at 0-0.
Eric Dier Injury: Stuttgart still scored amid Dier’s heroic move
Dier’s effort was not replied well for the visitor as one minute later, Stuttgart really took the lead through Leonidas Stergiou. Bayern equalised as Harry Kane scored his 36th league goal this season.
Kane converted from the spot after Serge Gnabry was fouled inside the box. He is now five goals away from breaking Robert Lewandowski’s 41-goal record in a single Bundesliga season.
Bayern had a relatively tough game in their preparation prior to the second leg of the Champions League semi final against Real Madrid. Thomas Tuchel’s side still have 90 minutes to go to secure their first final since 2020. Mainly for Kane, the title would ‘lift the curse’ of not winning a collective title during his career.
