Erik Ten Hag is reported to leave Manchester United regardless of the FA Cup final result. The Dutchman’s tenure at Old Trafford has gone wrong since winning the Carabao Cup last year.
In particular this season, United have lost every wrapped competition they participated in, leaving only the FA Cup as the one to win. Taking a closer look at what Ten Hag has done with the club, he started his time pretty well.
Erik Ten Hag won more games in the first 50 games
Compared to other top names such as Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp, Ten Hag had a relatively better start. From the first 50 games the three managers had with respective clubs, the former Ajax coach won 35 out of them.
For the records, Guardiola won only 29 games out of 50 first games while Klopp won 23. However, a never-ending injury crisis was decaying United from the inside this season. Ten Hag had to do multiple adjustments in his line-up but the results were far from expected.
The Red Devils had to depart the Champions League earlier after finishing at the bottom of the group stage table. In the Carabao Cup, they lost to Newcastle United at home in the Round of 16, while in the Premier League, the most decorated side in the competition finished eighth.
