Defending Premier League champions Manchester City could be handed a major blow in the pursuit of back-to-back trebles after star striker Erling Haaland limped off in training on Tuesday (Mar 19). Haaland, currently with Norway’s national side for international duty was spotted limping off in training. Norway are set to play the Czech Republic and neigbours Slovakia in friendly matches during the international break before the striker returns to Manchester for a tense conclusion in the league.

Playing in a no-contact training session on Tuesday, Haaland apparently suffered an injury which saw fears among the ranks of Manchester City supporters. The video surfacing on the internet, saw the Man City man being closely monitored by the medical staff after he was in discomfort. While the extent of the injury was unknown at the initial phase, team doctors have now come out and stated that Haaland’s injury is “no problem” and will continue to remain with the side.
Manchester City have a tough run in all competitions in the next two months starting with Arsenal’s visit to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday (Mar 31). City are also destined to face Real Madrid in the Champions League quarterfinals while a win for them will see them face Arsenal or Bayern Munich over two legs in the semifinals of the same competition.
Adding to that run will be the FA Cup semifinal against Chelsea and a potential final against arch-rivals Manchester United. Considering the challenging phase of fixtures, City will need Haaland for the big games as they look to secure the treble.
Due to a foot issue, Haaland missed 12 games for Manchester City in December and January of this year’s campaign. The striker was sidelined for both of City’s FIFA Club World Cup campaign and important a few Premier League fixtures.

In the FA Cup quarterfinals on Saturday night, the striker was also replaced by Julian Alvarez after 87 minutes against Newcastle United. The Norway international was photographed clutching his shoulder just before he was brought off at the Etihad Stadium.
Haaland stats this season for man city
Haaland has scored 29 goals in 34 appearances for Manchester City so far this season, and is set to play a major role in the club’s bid to retain last season’s treble upon returning to east Manchester following the international break.
Manchester City are set to be without goalkeeper Ederson for the clash with Arsenal due to a muscular problem sustained at Anfield. Meanwhile Kevin De Bruyne has been left out of the Belgium squad due to a groin injury.
