Everton eye Kalvin Phillips transfer on loan from Manchester City

Everton could be a career-reviving side for Kalvin Phillips who has been struggling since moving to Manchester City from Leeds United back in 2022. Sky Sports reported that The Toffees are looking at a move for the midfielder who is considerably available for another loan spell.

Phillips was loaned during the second half of last season to West Ham where he appeared for 10 games, winning only two out of those matches. Lately, the Hartlepool-born midfielder was left out from Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the upcoming Euro 2024 this summer.

There is a possibility of City selling Phillips instead of loaning him. But Everton’s financial situation is unlikely to support the scenario, putting the player on the waiting list of his next loaning exile next season.

Another report from Daily Mail suggested that Leeds United initially wanted to bring Phillips back to Elland Road. However, their failure to secure the promotion play-off ruined the plan. The 28-year old player struggled to compete to be a first pick of City’s Pep Guardiola.

Since arriving at the Etihad in the summer of 2022, Phillips only appeared 31 times while scoring one goal. West Ham is said to be unable to proceed with the player’s loan after disastrous performances, committing numerous mistakes leading to him being sent off.

Everton on the other hand, are aiming to strengthen their midfield force. Last season, the Goodison Park-based club relied on the likes of Amadou Onana and James Garner which put them to finish the league at 15th position.
