Euro 2024: Guaranteed Players in Expanded Italy Squad for Soccer Tournament in Germany

Expanded Italy Squad For Euro 2024

Following a huge decision taken by the UEFA regarding the extension of players’ numbers in the team squad, Italian national football team coach Luciano Spalletti can now call up 26 players for the upcoming Euro 2024. After a series of discussions, the governing body of European football (UEFA) has decided to allow teams to select squads of 23 to 26 footballers.

Earlier, the squad size was limited to 23 players. This decision means that 15 players can also sit on the bench, eliminating the need for anyone to sit in the stands during the upcoming Euro tournament.

UEFA’s decision regarding squad expansion has given an opportunity to the Italian camp to revamp their squad before they go out to defend the Euro Championship which is going to start next month. The final date for squad announcements for the tournament is June 7, and it is expected that all teams will benefit from UEFA’s new guidelines. Luciano Spalletti’s side will take on Spain, Croatia and Albania in the group stage. The curtain raiser of Euro 2024 will take place on June 16.
