Best Forwards Picks In FPL

Five forwards to have in your FPL gameweek 3 squad

Forwards are crucial in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) due to their potential for high-point hauls. They are directly involved in scoring goals and assists, which are the most valuable actions in the game. A forward who consistently finds the net or sets up teammates can significantly boost your overall points tally. However, selecting the right forwards requires careful consideration of factors like form, fixtures, and team tactics.

This coming weekend will signal the beginning of GW 3 in FPL as the season begins to settle into action. Last week’s most promising forward performances came from Erling Haaland with a hattrick against Ipswich and Nicolas Jackson against Wolves.

This week, the spotlight is on these players –

1. Erling Haaland

Anything you say about Erling Haaland in terms of FPL or goalscoring in general feels highly inadequate. Haaland has once again, started the season with a bang, scoring 4 goals in the first two games. Against Ipswich, it was highly likely that Manchester City would get a sizeable points haul and he returned with a hattrick and 17 points. He is the top scorer in the game with 24 points already and is owned by a whopping 59.3% of the managers playing the game. This is in spite of him having a record-breaking £15.1m price tag presently. City play West Ham away this weekend and the expectation will once again be that Haaland delivers.

2. Ollie Watkins

Ollie Watkins was fantastic last season, reaching double digits for both goals and assists and therefore he was among the most prized FPL assets. This season the expectation was that he would be the same this time around as well, priced at £9.0. But that hasn’t happened yet. Aston Villa have had two tricky games against West Ham and Arsenal and Watkins has only come up with 2 points in each game. However, that could all change this weekend as Villa take on Leicester City. The Foxes aren’t particularly great defensively and it’s time Watkins comes to the party.

3. Evanilson

Bournemouth face a struggling Everton side this week and will be expected to do well and get a positive result. Evanilson is the new striker for the Cherries, replacing Dominic Solanke. He did very well in Portugal with Porto but it remains to be seen how well it can translate to the Premier League. Everton has conceded 7 goals in the first two games – 3 to Brighton and 4 to Spurs. He’s owned by just 0.2% of the managers so he can be a fantastic differential at £6.0m.

4. Alexander Isak

From the beginning when FPL 2024/25 was launched, Alexander Isak emerged as the most popular option. At a point of time, he had almost 60% ownership. The simple reason is that Isak is up there with the best strikers in the league. However the first two weeks, these managers have been left a little disappointed. From a relatively straightforward couple of fixtures against newly promoted Southampton and then Bournemouth, Isak has left with a total of 7 points and 1 assist. This weekend, he faces Tottenham against whom he has a good record. His best has to arrive now.

5. Yoane Wissa

Yoane Wissa has been a very popular FPL asset among managers. The Brentford forward has quietly established himself as a consistent goal scorer. He has a knack for finding the net added to his becoming a starter in Ivan Toney’s absence this season makes him a valuable asset. Wissa’s ability to contribute points consistently, coupled with his relatively affordable price tag of £6.0m makes him an attractive option. So far he has 13 points from 2 games and will be eager to add on to that when the Bees play Southampton this week.
