Frenkie de Jong is a doubt for the EURO 2024 after injuring his ankle in the goalless draw to Athletic Club. The Dutchman has a lateral ligament sprain in his right ankle and will be out for 8-12 weeks.
However, the time on the sideline could be extended after the medical tests. The initial test has ruled him out for two months, and that sees him sit out of the majority of the business end of the season.

The Barcelona manager added that the injuries affected the team, and that was a reason for their goalless draw. He added:
“Maybe the injuries affected the team too much but then in the second half with Lamine we created some chances but it was not out game today. We didn’t play well. We cannot be happy today because we need to do more. Everybody, me as a coach, the players. OK, we need to improve. It’s a very big opportunity that we missed today. We need to recover well, think about Mallorca, and keep going.”
Barcelona are now eight points behind Real Madrid in the league table. They had a chance to go above Girona, but the draw saw them remain third – a point behind the second-placed side.
