Guardiola running out of words to describe Erling Haaland

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said he is running out of words to describe his star striker Erling Haaland, who scored a second consecutive hattrick to guide City to a 3-1 win over West Ham. The Norwegian has now scored a ridiculous 7 goals in just 3 games to start the Premier League season.

“No words for him,” the City boss said after the win. “All we can do is make him play better and better and give him as many balls as possible to the box. It’s what we have to do.” Haaland looks impossible to stop when he is in form like this.

At the time of writing, not only is Haaland 4 ahead of anyone in the Golden Boot race, he has also outscored every other Premier League team. Only Sergio Aguero, Alan Shearer and Robbie Fowler have more hattricks than Erling Haaland in the Premier League, even though he’s just 24 and has played just 69 times in the league.

The big striker scored once in a 2-0 win over Chelsea to kick off the league campaign, before now having scored consecutive hattricks against Ipswich Town and West Ham. He looks on pace to go past his own scoring record, but these are still early days.

Guardiola pointed out an improvement in his game too. “He scored three goals today but he didn’t lose one ball,” added the Spanish manager. “Today is one of the games where he has played the best in all situations. When you see the games and see what we want to do, he understands because he is a smart guy.
Erling Haaland said that he is ready for more after the game. “I feel good, I feel energised,” he said. “I had a long vacation and pre-season. Now I’m ready for more.”
