Guinea and Senegal will face off in Matchday 3 of the group stages to decide who will finish as a winner of Group C, with the former currently second with four points from two games, while Senegal is sitting in first place with six points from two games.

The hosts enter this game on the back of a positive run of form. They have won three of their last five games across competitions, drawing one and losing one. They have not conceded more than one goal in any of these games, and all but one of the games saw less than three goals scored. One of the wins was a 2-0 win over Nigeria in preparation for the tournament as Guinea looks in good form ahead of this game.

Senegal, on the other hand, are in a much better vein of form. They have won four and drawn one of their last five games, conceding just one goal during that run. They have scored 11 goals on the other end, indicating the firepower in their ranks. The hosts will be without their captain Francois Kamano, who was shown a straight red card in the team’s 1-1 draw against Cameroon in the first game. Serhou Guirassy is a doubt after pulling up with a hamstring strain, while Issiaga Sylla is also doubtful with a calf injury.

Should Sylla start, he will be the captain like in the previous game, while Mohamed Bayo is expected to lead the line again.

Nicolas Jackson could get his first start of the tournament up front, while veteran Idrissa Gueye could come into the XI to cover for the injuries.

All eyes will be on Mohamed Bayo, who will lead the line for Guinea for the third game running. The Le Havre striker got on the scoresheet in the 10th minute against Cameroon but they couldn’t hold onto the result. Bayo will be looking to add to his four goals for his country when they face Senegal.

The forward has also scored four goals and provided one assist in 12 games for his club this season and has scored four goals in 18 appearances for his country.

Ismaila Sarr, Senegal

Ismaila Sarr will be in the spotlight after already providing three goal contributions in just two games in the tournament so far. He provided an assist in the 3-0 win over Gambia and topped that with a goal and an assist against Cameroon in a 3-1 win.

The Marseille forward has made 21 appearances for his club this season, scoring four goals and providing two assists. He will look to continue his stellar form for Senegal and take it back to Ligue 1 with him.
