Ivan Toney addresses transfer speculation amid links to Man Utd and Arsenal. Brentford manager Thomas Frank also weighed in with an update.
Manchester United and Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Ivan Toney from Brentford. The striker’s future has been a hot topic especially after Brentford manager Thomas Frank suggested the club is preparing for Toney’s potential departure.
Frank mentioned on BBC Sport that Brentford has signed Igor Thiago from Club Brugge as a contingency plan.
Frank said, “Maybe we are selling a player but we are prepared for that. It’s no secret that there’s lots of rumours about Ivan. If he is leaving us, and I’d still like to keep him as he’s a top player, this time we are prepared and brought in Igor Thiago.”

When asked about Frank’s comments during a press conference Toney played down the speculation.
“I didn’t hear him say that! I can’t predict the future and if I could I wouldn’t be sat here in front of you guys. What will be will be and my main focus is playing well and doing well for my country,” he said.
Toney also shared his approach to handling transfer rumours by recalling a past experience when a move to Wolves fell through.
“From 18 when I was supposed to go to Wolves and I was all excited and getting involved in all of it, then it didn’t happen, it hurt me. Since then, I thought: ‘Why am I trying to take control of things when I don’t need that pressure?’ I just let people who take care of those things do it and I focus on the pitch,” he added.
Toney’s contract with Brentford ends next season which has put the club under pressure to sell him this summer to avoid losing him for free in 2025. Brentford reportedly values Toney at around £65 million.
Both Manchester United and Arsenal have shown interest in the striker with United manager Erik ten Hag eager to strengthen his squad’s attacking options and Mikel Arteta looking for a consistent scorer.
Tottenham have also been linked with Toney recently with the aim of bolstering their attacking prowess. As the summer transfer window heats up Toney’s future remains uncertain but his focus is clear—performing well on the pitch.
