The high-profile winger, who made a blockbuster £75 million ($95m) move to Old Trafford in the summer of 2021, has encountered a nightmare season, being sidelined from the first team since August 26 following allegations from manager Erik ten Hag about a dip in training standards. Sancho has been relegated to working within Manchester United’s academy system during this period.

The latest reports from Bild suggest that an exit route for Sancho has materialized in the January transfer window. The terms of the deal indicate that the 23-year-old will make a temporary return to Germany, rejoining Borussia Dortmund on a short-term loan costing the club a mere £2.6 million. This move would enable Sancho to revive his professional career in familiar surroundings, returning to the club where he previously excelled.

However, before Sancho can officially make the switch, minor tax details need to be resolved, delaying his departure from Manchester United. There are indications that the talented winger could join Borussia Dortmund at their Marbella winter training camp as early as Friday, potentially participating in a friendly match against AZ Alkmaar on Saturday.
