Manchester United Monitors Joshua Kimmich Amid Contract Uncertainty at Bayern Munich

Manchester United have reportedly entered the race for Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich as the 28-year-old’s contract with the German club is set to expire in June 2025. Speculations suggest that Kimmich, a pivotal player for Bayern, might consider a move during the summer transfer window.

Despite being a crucial contributor this season with one goal and six assists in 20 appearances across competitions, uncertainty looms over Kimmich’s long-term future. While Barcelona and Manchester City were linked with the Germany international in the summer, Manchester United have now joined the fray, keeping a watchful eye on his situation, as reported by journalist Ekrem Konur.

Although a mid-season transfer appears unlikely, discussions over a potential move could commence in the near future, with a departure from Allianz Arena anticipated at the end of the campaign. Kimmich, known for his versatility and impactful performances, is reportedly open to a move to the Premier League, with Liverpool also reportedly in contention alongside Barcelona and Manchester City.

Since joining Bayern from RB Leipzig in 2015, Kimmich has amassed 367 appearances, contributing 41 goals and 100 assists. His impressive trophy cabinet includes eight Bundesliga titles, three German Cups, and a Champions League triumph. Despite these successes, Kimmich is believed to be seeking a new challenge at this stage of his career.

In anticipation of potential midfield changes in 2024, Manchester United are making strategic moves. Donny van de Beek is set to leave on loan to Eintracht Frankfurt for the second half of the season, with the German club having an option to make the move permanent next summer.

The future of Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina remains uncertain unless a significant improvement in form occurs. Casemiro is linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, and offers are reportedly welcome for Christian Eriksen. This could lead to the need for two or three central midfielders at Old Trafford for the 2024-25 campaign.
