After his €103 million move to Real Madrid last summer, a lot was expected from Jude Bellingham, especially after the success he enjoyed at Borussia Dortmund. The young midfielder thrived in Germany, contributing to 49 goals in over 130 appearances for the Westfalenstadion side. It earned him the move to La Liga and the Santiago Bernabeu, and so far, the 20-year-old has thrived at the club
He has made 36 appearances this season, scoring 21 goals and 10 assists across all competitions but it’s a tally that includes 8 goal contributions in as many Champions League games. Not only that, Bellingham has netted an impressive 17 goals in the La Liga, including five in his first four games. But with a key run of games arriving for Real Madrid, questions have been asked over his fitness.
Jude Bellingham misses training
The Los Blancos face Real Sociedad next as they continue their hunt for the La Liga title, with Carlo Ancelotti’s men inching closer towards being confirmed as champions. However, they also face Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-finals after that with it a big week for the club. But in the face of that, reports have indicated that Bellingham was missing in training ahead of the weekend.
The English midfielder reportedly sat out training with a stomach issue and Carlo Ancelotti confirmed the same with Bellingham’s presence against Real Sociedad in doubt. The Italian manager went on to admit that he would prefer to keep the 20-year-old fit for the semi-final but will take things as they come.
“Bellingham had a stomach problem and Rodrygo had the flu, but they can still travel. Mendy won’t travel, he’s fine but I prefer him to stay and work for the Champions League,” Carlo Ancelotti said, reported Goal.
