Juventus vs PSV Preview
Date: Tuesday, September 17.
Kick-off Time: 4:45 pm GMT.
Venue: Allianz Stadium, Torino, Italy
The UEFA Champions League is back and in an all-new format. In this new look for the premier continental club competition, the group stage is replaced by a new league-like format. Juventus kick off their campaign against the champions of the Netherlands PSV Eindhoven.
Juventus have won this competition twice, but much of their recent history has been marked by coming so close yet falling just short. In the last couple of years, their form has been quite bad, which even saw them miss out on qualification in last year’s edition. They are back this time though under a new and promising manager in Thiago Motta. Early season form has shown that the team is taking some time to adjust to the ex-PSG midfielder’s systems. Two consecutive games of theirs now have ended in goalless draws.
Dutch champions PSV had a superb league campaign last season on the back of which they are in this competition. They have won the Champions League once in their history. Interestingly, PSV, have a new manager in the very attacking Peter Bosz. However, PSV has once again started the season on fire.
Juventus Team News
Motta came in and let go of some of Juventus’s regulars and instead has focused on giving game time to new signings and youngsters. Keep an eye out for Samuel Mbangula on the left wing. Arkadiusz Milik and new signing Francisco Conceicao are likely to miss out with injury although neither were really in line to start.
PSV Team News
Bosz plays a classic 4-3-3 and is known for being one of the most attack-minded managers in the world. He does have a couple of injury worries though, with defender Armando Obispo and winger Hirving Lozano expected to miss out with fresh injuries. Captain and talisman Luuk De Jong had picked up an injury too but has recovered over the international break.

Juventus vs PSV head-to-head
The two sides, despite being giants of the European game, have seemingly never played each other before.
Key players to watch in Juventus vs PSV
Kenan Yildiz (Juventus)
The Turkish youngster has never played in the Champions League before but expect him to make a real impression this time around. The attacking midfielder has been a revelation for the Bianconeri since last season. Yildiz will play with Dusan Vlahovic and will be causing a lot of chaos among the PSV defence.
Johan Bakayoko (PSV)
Bakayoko said earlier this summer that when he does leave PSV, it will be for a truly elite club. Now in the Champions League, he will get no bigger stage to show off his talents. The winger is known for his direct approach and has racked up the assists for PSV over the last couple of years.
Juventus vs PSV Prediction
This is expected to be a close affair. Both sides are adjusting to their new managers and systems, so expect a less-than-perfect outing from both sides. Expect Juventus to win still, given the superior quality in their ranks and the home support. Both teams are expected to score though.
