Kai Havertz is having one of the best seasons in his footballing career and it’s with Arsenal. The German had resurged to be one of the most effective forwards since leaving Chelsea last summer. In the latest outing with The Gunners at Old Trafford against Manchester United, Havertz provided an assist for his side’s opening goal.
Havertz penetrated into United’s near post before sending the low cross which came into Leandro Trossard’s running line. The latter then struck the ball into the net despite being surrounded by several opponent’s players. Arsenal led until the break.
Kai Havertz Stats: Only Cole Palmer has a better stats so far
For Havertz, the assist was his seventh this season in the Premier League, taking him to have 14 goal involvements this season. Only Cole Palmer, who has been Chelsea’s outstanding turf this season, has more involvements with 19 goals.
Arsenal are in the close title race with Manchester City with two games remaining. When City beat Fulham yesterday, The Gunners were trailing one point to their rival with the same games played. But as things stand at Old Trafford at the moment, Arsenal moved back up to the top and have to maintain the lead to keep their perch at the top.
Havertz was a hot prospect back in his Bayer Leverkusen days, scoring 46 goals during his four-season stay with the current Bundesliga champions. That’s what makes Chelsea admire him and purchased €80 million to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
But he was considered a flop despite winning the Champions League with The Blues and scored 32 goals in 139 appearances. Havertz was part of Chelsea’s offload sales season last summer, being sold to the same-city rival €5 million cheaper than what it took to bring him from Leverkusen.
