Kevin De Bruyne

Kevin De Bruyne makes an interesting call between Erling Haaland and Sergio Aguero as the top striker he played with

In a recent interview, Kevin De Bruyne was asked to choose the best striker between Erling Haaland and Sergio Aguero.

The Belgian playmaker’s answer to the question regarding his former and current team-mate was quite surprising.

The Manchester City move in 2015 helped evolve De Bruyne’s game making him one of the best midfielders in modern football history.

His brilliant vision and passing ability with the ball were propelled to another level under Pep, turning into a master provider, helping strikers score brilliant goals.

Since the return to England, the former Wolfsburg player has gathered 103 goals and provided 171 assists in 386 games for the club.

Having played with some of the finest strikers of his time, Erling Haaland and Sergio Aguero have celebrated triumphs with De Bruyne at Manchester City.

Aguero is City’s all-time top scorer, with a solid part of the 260 goals provided by De Bruyne.

While the three-season-old Haaland boasts two golden boots in two campaigns, benefited from the Belgian, who set up, a solid number of 70 goals in 69 Premier League games.

De Bruyne’s answer was diplomatic on asked whether the Norwegian is the best striker he has ever played with,

“It’s a hard question. In the box, I’d say yes,” De Bruyne said.

“All around, maybe Kun Sergio Aguero but it depends on what you talk about. Erling is the most prolific striker I’ve played with.

“I’ve played with really good strikers like Kun, Samuel Eto’o, Fernando Torres, there’s some good guys. It’s hard to compare but the stats speak for themselves. He’s started the season on fire and let’s hope he maintains it.”

This answer would have kept Haaland as ease, as the Norwegian hopes to enjoy the benefit of De Bruyne in the last year of his contract.
