It was an interesting decision by Carlo Ancelotti to name Kylian Mbappe in the starting XI against Alaves, after having played him for the whole 90 minutes on Saturday. Real Madrid fans sorely hoped that the issue would not have been a panicking one, having just witnessed the likes of Jude Bellingham, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Ferland Mendy come back from their respective injuries.

Real Madrid to face Atletico Madrid next

Kylian Mbappe would have been preparing for his first big encounter in La Liga, with Atletico Madrid due to host its city rivals on Sunday. The European champions are unbeaten so far and Atletico will do everything in its power to break that streak. Playing the Los Colchoneros at the Metropolitano is always an enduring task and Madrid will require the clinical touch of Kylian Mbappe on the day to make the most of the chances that come.

Mbappe has already scored seven goals for his new club but will now have to witness the action from the sidelines. Real Madrid already has a big motivation ahead of the encounter, having lost at the Metropolitano twice in the last year. According to reports, Kylian Mbappe will miss the games against Atletico Madrid, Lille, and Villarreal. He is also expected to stay back in Madrid for the international break and return to action in late October.
