La Liga is witnessing some enormous clashes for the Pichichi. The battle for the coveted trophy seems to be wide open this campaign. Barcelona’s new poster boy, Robert Lewandowski, grabbed it last season with 23 goals. While the Polish striker remains a favorite this year as well, young blood across the league is springing up the competition. With tournament greats Lionel Messi and Karim Benzema recently embarking on new ventures, there’s an opportunity for fresh faces to enter the spotlight.
A Los Blancos player has been atop the table for almost half a season, but it’s not striker Joselu, who was loaned to fill the shoes of Benzema. Jude Bellingham has risen out of the blue, turning himself into a goalscoring hero for Real Madrid with 16 goals so far. However, his lead is vulnerable after missing a few matches due to injury. Borja Mayoral is second with 15 goals, followed by Girona’s Artem Dovbyk in third place with 14 goals. It seems to be intensely competitive at the top, with at least 10 players in double figures this season including Alvaro Morata, Robert Lewandowski, Antoine Griezmann, and Gerard Moreno.
1.Jude Bellingham | Real Madrid | 16 goals
Jude Bellingham has surpassed expectations since the opening day for Real Madrid. From clutch to clinical finishes, he has done it all. This season, he has been a pivotal striker for Los Blancos in their aim to grab their 38th La Liga crown.
2.Borja Mayoral | Getafe | 15 goals
Getafe’s Mayoral has been the steam engine pulling the club this season. His crucial presence in front of goal has dipped a bit in the past few games, but with important clashes ahead as they welcome Girona and travel to Valencia, it’s high time he gets his confidence running.

3.Artem Dovbyk | Girona | 14 goals
This season’s surprise package, Girona, has never seemed to take their feet off the accelerator apart from a few occasional speed breakers. Leading from the front is Dovbyk, who is a key figure as the second-placed side appears to be very much in range for contention in the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League season for the very first time in their history.
4. Alvaro Morata | Atletico Madrid | 13 goals
Off to a flying start, the Spaniard seemed to have finally found his form in this Atletico side. His numbers have contributed a lot in the first half of the season from grabbing 3 points. Sadly, his injury has caused bumps in Atletico’s journey as their chances of a trophy become blurry.
5. Ante Budimir | Osasuna | 13 goals
Osasuna’s mid-table vows continue, but with in-form Budimir in the picture, things seem to be a little brighter for the North Spanish side. The 32-year-old Croatian has scored 13 goals in 26 games for his side but has failed to register a goal in the recent fixture. This 2021 signing surely makes his presence felt and hopes to see similar performances until 2025.
