Birmingham City defender Lee Buchanan will return to training in a few days

Manager Chris Davies reveals that the Rangers game on Wednesday will be too soon for defender Lee Buchanan but the youngster will return to training in the coming days.

The English defender missed the pre-season training game against Shrewsbury Town on Saturday afternoon and also withdrew from the friendly win over Solihull earlier this week.

Davies has confirmed that Buchanan is struggling with a minor knock and will rejoin his teammates sometime next week, ahead of upcoming friendlies against Walsall and West Bromwich Albion.

He’s had a niggle, he’s had a couple of these little niggles in the first few weeks. Unfortunate, really, but nothing major – I think within a few days he’ll be back training again.

Lee Buchanan suffered a horrific injury last season

The former England youth international clashed heads with Plymouth’s Julio Pleguezuelo but was also caught by teammate Jay Stansfield on his way down. He was treated by the medics and required a stretcher to be taken off the pitch.

It wasn’t clear what caused most of the damage hence he was taken to the hospital for further treatment. Buchanan lay on his back and the medics fitted a neck brace which grew concerns amongst the fans.
