Leicester City vs Everton Player Ratings as Stephy Mavididi’s goal thwarts Toffees first win

Leicester City hosted Everton as both sides were seeking their first Premier League win of the 2024-25 campaign at the King Power Stadium on Saturday evening. The Foxes shared the points with Everton following a 1-1 draw at home, after bouncing back in the second half through Stephy Mavidid’s goal cancelled out the 11th-minute strike of Iliman Ndiaye. Sean Dyche’s led Toffees have finally opened their first point of the season. however, they have remained winless in the initial five league games and are currently sitting at the bottom of the table. At the same time, Leicester continues to search for its maiden first three points.

Goalkeeper 

Mads Hermansen – 7: Made plenty of saves denying Everton players from scoring. However, he reacted late to Ndiaye narrowly striking the bottom of the post.   

Defenders 

James Justin – 7: Required more of his involvement in the attack, nonetheless did his job in the defence. 

Wout Faes – 6.5: Faes was good in the defence making interceptions and blocks. But a lapse in concentration during the rain caused problems. 

Caleb Okoli  – 7: Restricted the movement of Calvert-Lewin in attack, maintained 100% success rate tackles alongwith key blocks. 

Victor Kristiansen – 7: Left back was excellent in tackles but gave away space to Everton wingers but overall remained compact. 

Midfielders 

Harry Winks – 6.5: Winks did well in keeping the ball possession and delivered accurate long balls, creating three chances. 

Wilfred Ndidi – 7.5: As the pivot, he sat deeper in midfield and helped out in defending putting tackles and interceptions. Later joined the attack and shot on target. 

Jordan Ayew – 6: Ayew had a subpar outing and wasn’t able to produce any significant threat on the right flank. 

Bilal El Khannous – 5.5: the midfielder’s full debut for Foxes didn’t go as planned. Needs to pick up his form in the upcoming matches. 

Stephy Mavididi – 8: Scored the equaliser in the second, was thriving on left flanks with his quick feet beating defenders and created key chances for his teammates. 

Forwards 

Jamie Vardy – 6: A disappointing outing from the talisman striker wasn’t much involvement leading the line as the number nine.

Manager 

Steve Cooper – 6.5: The Welsh manager cannot inspire his side to snatch three points in the home condition which means Leicester City are still in search of their first win after narrowly avoiding home defeat.

Goalkeeper 

Jordon Pickford – 6.5: The English keeper made important saves, especially when Mavidid’s shot awkwardly bounced off the post though he managed to stop the ball from crossing the line. 

Defenders 

James Garner – 6.5: Was involved in both attacking and defensive work starting on the right back position. 

James Tarkowski – 7: He was solid in the backline restricting the fox in box Jamie Vardy from causing trouble.  

Michael Keane –  6.5: Partnered up well with Tarkowski and made some crucial interceptions and clearances in the box. 

Ashley Young – 7: Showed his wealth of experiences playing as left back. He was extensively involved in creating attacks and also defended quite well. 

Midfielders 

Orel Mangala – 7: Operated all over the field as the midfield engine and has been impressive ever since making his debut for Everton.

Abdoulaye Doucoure – 7: Phenonamal work rate and often dropping deep and providing solidity in front of the backline. 

Dwight McNeil – 7: Playing as the number 10 behind the striker, he created three chances and had a shot on target. 

Iliman Ndiaye – 8: He was lively on the field on the left side, showing his capabilities of going forward, exchanging passes, cutting inside and taking shots on goal which eventually led him to score his debut goal. 

Jesper Lindstrom – 7: Had a fair outing on the right flank besides missing a big chance. He registered a single shot on target.

Forwards 

Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 7: The English marksmen didn’t get enough opportunities yet managed to have two shots on target while taking 8 touches inside the box.
