Inter Miami will face New York City FC in the MLS on Friday as a Leo Messi injury continues to sideline the Argentinian star for the Herons.
Leo Messi Injury: A concerning absence for Inter Miami
Leo Messi last featured for Miami on 13 March when Inter Miami beat Nashville 3-1 in the CONCACAF Champions Cup. The Argentinian legend came off as a precaution and was later diagnosed with a minor hamstring injury. Leo was set to return to action in the March international break for Argentina, but it was later announced that Leo would not join the World Cup winners due to the injury. While Miami and Argentina continue to insist that Leo Messi injury is minor, his prolonged absence has been concerning.
As a result, Tata Martino’s Inter Miami has seen a recent dip in form due to the Leo Messi injury with Miami’s last game ending in a 4-0 defeat against NY Red Bulls.
Now Miami has confirmed that the Argentinian star will continue on the sidelines as the club takes on New York City FC as well. According to the Inter Miami management, the Leo Messi injury is healing well and the veteran footballer is already doing light training, hoping to make it in time for Miami’s midweek clash against Monterrey in the CONCACAF Champions Cup next week. The Herons’ assistant coach assured fans that Leo is working with the physios and preparing to reach full fitness by Wednesday.
