Inter Miami superstar Lionel Messi shared a memorable moment with Hollywood star Will Smith during the club’s game against Real Salt Lake in the MLS.

The two met during the half-time interval of the match. The Argentine approached the VIP area where Smith was seated and the pair shared an embrace. Reports from Spanish outlet Marca add that the pair also exchanged words of mutual respect and admiration.

Both Lionel Messi and Will Smith have been stalwarts in their respective fields for the last two decades. The Argentine’s arrival in the USA was bound to attract several celebrities who were eager to watch him play. However, despite his stature in the sport, it is incredible to see Messi recognize the cultural impact of icons like Smith.

It was one of the big intersections of the world of athletics and entertainment. Spectators in the stadium and at home enjoyed it equally.

Inter Miami put in a strong performance in their MLS season opener at the Chase Stadium, recording a 2-0 win over Real Salt Lake. Robert Taylor and Diego Gomez scored goals on either side of half-time to help their team kick start their new season with winning ways.

Messi’s performance against Real Salt Lake

Lionel Messi was in on the action as well and he played well to grab an assist. He passed the ball with 82% accuracy, including five key passes and one long ball. Messi also won four duels and made one tackle in the process. He also attempted four shots but just two of those were on target while the other two were blocked.

Miami will travel to Los Angeles to face the LA Galaxy in their next game and will look to continue their winning start to the season.
