Inter Miami’s marquee signing Lionel Messi is facing a setback as he grapples with a leg injury, casting doubt on his availability for the team’s upcoming fixture.
How Lionel Messi Suffred the Injury
During Wednesday’s 3-1 victory over Nashville, Messi was forced to exit the match early in the second half due to discomfort in his right hamstring area.
Inter Miami’s head coach Gerardo “Tata” Martino revealed that the 36-year-old forward was withdrawn from the game as a precautionary measure after experiencing discomfort.
Martino stated, “He is overloaded in the right posterior. We don’t want to run a risk.” Despite Messi’s goal and assist contribution before his substitution in the 50th minute, the decision was made to prioritize his well-being.
As a result of the injury, Messi is expected to be sidelined for Inter Miami’s upcoming MLS encounter against D.C. United on Saturday. This decision is part of a precautionary approach by the team’s management to ensure Messi’s recovery and avoid exacerbating his condition.
This injury adds to Messi’s recent fitness concerns, having been rested in the team’s previous match against Montreal due to a shin injury.
