Trent Alexander-Arnold on Title Race

Liverpool’s Alexander-Arnold Admits Title May Slip to Manchester City

Trent Alexander Arnold acknowledged that Liverpool might have given the league crown to Manchester City, the current champions.

Liverpool and Arsenal Drop Points

The Reds had a slim one-point lead over Man City heading into last weekend, but they were tied for second position with Arsenal on the scoreboard.

Jurgen Klopp’s team, though, lost 1-0 to Crystal Palace as Man City easily defeated relegation-threatened Luton Town 5-1.

With a two-point lead over their title rivals, the Citizens concluded the weekend at the top of the league following Arsenal’s 2-0 loss to Aston Villa on Sunday.

Trent Alexander-Arnold on Title Race Now

According to Alexander-Arnold, giving Man City the lead is almost as rewarding them with the league title.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Alexander-Arnold conceded,

“Arsenal experienced it, we’ve experienced it two or three times, when you get into a title race with Man City they are borderline perfect. You can’t slip up or make mistakes. If you give them the upper hand, they don’t really blink in those moments. It’s a well-oiled machine. That’s what they do, they click and there’s no stopping them.”

Alexander-Arnold acknowledged the significance of this shift, stating,

“Giving them this advantage with six games to go is almost like handing them the title. All we can do is hope someone does us a favour and get our goal difference up.”

Despite the setback, Liverpool remains determined to maintain their pursuit of the title. Alexander-Arnold emphasized the team’s focus on winning each of their remaining fixtures against Fulham, Everton, West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

“Our aim is to win every game – that’s all we can do and try to capitalize,” he affirmed. “It will be difficult but I’ve seen over the last few weeks of odds and percentage chances of who is going to win the league has fluctuated with just one result. Anything can happen in the Premier League.”

As Liverpool prepares for the final stretch of the season, Alexander-Arnold’s return from injury adds a boost to their lineup. With upcoming fixture against Fulham, the full-back is poised to play a pivotal role in Liverpool’s pursuit of closing the gap with Manchester City.

With the title race now firmly in Manchester City’s control, Liverpool remains undeterred, knowing that in the unpredictable landscape of the Premier League, unexpected twists can still alter the course of the season.
