Liverpool target David Hancko is reportedly looking for a transfer elsewhere
Liverpool have been quite consistently linked with the Feyenoord’s Slovakian international defender David Hancko. A few months ago the player’s agent confirmed that an initial contact was made by the English club’s hierarchy. Hancko has easily been one of the standout players in the 2023-2024 Eredivisie season.
The 26-year-old has started about 100 percent of the games he has featured in for the Dutch club. When it comes to his defending ability, he is equally a good defender when it comes to one-on-one defending or trumping an opponent’s player when competing for those aerial duels inside the final third. The Arne Slot connection does make him a viable target for the Reds, as he has played under the Premier Club’s new manager at Feyenoord.
Recently reports regarding statements issued by the Slovakian player’s wife Kristyna Pliskova have been doing the rounds online. Pliskova has reportedly inflicted the fact that her partner is looking for a transfer elsewhere. “It (the transfer saga) will be dealt with this summer. Probably only after the championship, but I’m not such an expert”, David Hancko’s partner asserted.

She further pressed on and stated – “I don’t know if it’s (a transfer) up for grabs, but I think he’d (Hancko) like to move on”. The major blow for Liverpool came when Kristyna Pliskova pointed out the preferable transfer options for her partner. “I’m not complaining, but there are definitely better places. For me Spain or Italy”. It can be inferred that David Hancko’s partner certainly prefers a move to either La Liga or Seria A over one to England’s Premier League.
Apart from his defensive contributions, in his 34 outings for Feyenoord in the recently concluded 2023-2024 Eredivisie campaign, Hancko also had five goals and two assists to his name. He made eight combined appearances for the club in the 2023-2024 Champions League and Europa League campaigns. His current contract with the Dutch club runs till June 2028. He’s lately been the first name on the Feyenoord’s team sheet.
David Hancko is currently at the UEFA Euro 2024 representing Slovakia on the international stage. His performance in his nation’s first match of the tournament against Belgium was decent. His calmness on the ball stood out during various spells of the game. He’s just the kind of player that could be very handy for Liverpool in the Premier League. Whether the Reds did go all out for him in the transfer market remains to be seen.
