Liverpool vs Man City Combined XI ahead of final battle between Klopp and Pep

This Sunday would be a historic afternoon when Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola will face off for the final time in the Premier League as the two sides are separated by only one place and one point.

Liverpool FC has been plagued with injuries in recent months but would be happy to welcome the likes of Andy Robertson, Mo Salah, and Wataru Endo to Anfield for one of the most exciting showdowns of 2024. Here we have created Liverpool vs Man City XI ahead of the final battle between Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola.

Liverpool vs Man City XI: Liverpool vs Man City Combined XI

GK: Ederson (Man City) – This was an easy decision as Alisson is currently batting with a knee injury, so Man City keeper Ederson should start in between the sticks.

RB: Kyle Walker (Man City) – With Trent Alexander-Arnold in the treatment room and Conor Bradley far from making his mark in the Premier League, England veteran Kyle Walker would be an easy pick in the Liverpool vs Man City XI combined lineup.

CB: Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool) – This was another easy pick for us as the Liverpool captain is in great form after a shaky start to the season and will be fresh to lead Liverpool on Sunday.

CB: Ruben Dias (Man City) – One of the most consistent defenders in the Man City lineup, Dias has made 176 passes into the final third, just below Rodri and Declan Rice in the rankings. His consistency has been a major talking point for Manchester City this season.

LB: Andy Robertson (Liverpool) – Despite being injured for the majority of the season, Scotland’s Andy Robertson fends off the likes of Nathan Ake and Joe Gomez for his spot in our Liverpool XI vs Man City.

DM: Rodri (Man City) – Undoubtedly, Rodri is the best No.6 in the world currently and has continued to enhance his reputation by bagging six goals and six assists already this campaign. Liverpool doesn’t have any player to compete with the Spaniard for our combined XI.

CM: Kevin de Bruyne (Man City) – Since his return from a hamstring injury, Kevin de Bruyne has four assists to his name and will be the man to lead the supply line to Man City’s attackers on Sunday afternoon.

CM: Dominik Szoboszlai (Liverpool) – The Hungarian is the only Liverpool player to be included in our midfielder list due to his spellbinding form in recent weeks. He gets the nod ahead of World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister by a thin margin.

RW: Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) – This was a no-brainer for us, as Mo Salah can be considered Liverpool’s best player who’s having an exceptional season with the Reds despite being out with a few injuries this term. He has one of the best records against Man City, registering 11 goals and six assists in the last 19 games against Pep Guardiola’s men.

LW: Julian Alvarez (Man City) – The World Cup winner can play in any position in the front three, even with Jeremy Doku or Luis Diaz flying high with their respective left-wing positions. Alvarez’s influence on City continues to grow and his current form makes a strong case to cement a role in the starting XI on Sunday afternoon.

ST: Erling Haaland (Man City) – This was a battle between Darwin Nunez and Erling Haaland but we know who will be the straightforward pick for our Liverpool vs Man City combined XI. The Norwegian has netted 18 goals in 22 appearances, displaying his astounding consistency in domestic league play.

If Liverpool and Man City share the spoils on Sunday afternoon, it would allow Arsenal to take the top spot by defeating Brentford on Saturday at the Emirates.
