Liverpool vs Tottenham Preview:
- Date: 5th May, Sunday
- Kick-off Time: 3:30 PM (GMT)
- Venue: Anfield
With the English Premier League season entering its last phase, Liverpool will take on Tottenham on Matchday 36 at Anfield. Liverpool have had a disheartening few weeks as they crashed out of the Europa League and FA Cup last month. However, the biggest blow of all has been their last few results which have virtually ended their chances of winning the Premier League.
While the Reds were still in contention up until a week ago, their latest outing against West Ham ended in a 2-2 draw ending their participation in the horse title race. Now, Liverpool will play for pride and look to give Jurgen Klopp a fitting farewell by performing and winning their last three ties under the German gaffer.
Meanwhile, Tottenham enter the game with much to play for. Spurs are currently 5th in the league and are desperately looking to increase their points tally to secure a UEFA Champions League berth for next season. Unfortunately for the London club, their recent performances have been nothing short of pitiful. Their latest outing in the Premier League saw them lose 2-0 to eternal city rivals Chelsea. The loss was their third loss in a row, further demotivating the squad. While they have one game in hand over 4th placed Aston Villa, Spurs will have to ensure they return to winning ways by thumping Liverpool if they aspire to finish in a Champions League spot.

Liverpool:
The Reds have been hounded by injuries all season long and on Sunday the trend will continue as the side will enter the battle without crucial players.
Forward Diogo Jota has spent a considerable amount of time on the sidelines this season and will once again return to the injury ward as he picked up yet another muscle injury last week. His injury is unlikely to heal in time and will see Jota miss the Liverpool vs Tottenham tie.
Right back Conor Bradley was impressive in the absence of Trent Alexander-Arnold and earned high praise from several people, including Klopp. So, when Bradley picked up an ankle injury last month, many were sad to see the youngster sidelined. Conor’s injury will keep him out at least till mid-May, reducing his chances of featuring for Klopp again.
Meanwhile, Thiago and Joel Matip continue to recover from their long-term injuries on the sidelines.
Tottenham:
Spurs have avoided a major outbreak of injuries all season, however have recently picked up a few knocks which have majorly affected the side. Their sudden dip in form and three consecutive losses in the league could also be attributed to the injuries.
On Sunday, Tottenham will miss defenders Udogie and Ryan Sessegnon. Udogie and Sessegnon have been ruled out for the rest of the Premier League season with muscle injuries.
Another major setback for Spurs in this crucial stage has been the recent hamstring injury of Timo Werner. His injury has not only cast a doubt over his participation for Spurs this season, but also his participation in the Euro 2024 scheduled to start in June.
Meanwhile, goalkeepers Solomon and Alfie Whiteman continue to recover on the sidelines.
