The permission has been granted to Man City by the Premier League
As inflicted by ‘Mail Sport’, earlier, Man City approached the Premier League to grant them permission to wear their FIFA Club World Cup winning symbol of the Golden Badge on their match jerseys for another season (2024-25 season). As it turns out, the English club has received the permission to do so by the league’s upper hierarchy.
Pep Guardiola’s Man City won the FIFA Club World Cup in December 2023 by defeating Brazilian club Fluminense in the final via a scoreline of 4-0. Since then they have earned the right to have that Golden Badge in the middle of their jerseys. The club will now be fully focused on the upcoming season, to defend their title once again with their first game of the fresh Premier League campaign lined up against rejuvenated Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Man City’s Golden Badge reads ‘FIFA World Champions 2023’. The 2023 Club World Cup victory made City the first one in the history of English football to go on and win the UEFA Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, Club World Cup, and Super Cup in the same period or so. The teams who win the FIFA Club World Cup are entitled to that very specific Golden Badge, and that’s why City players have it on their jerseys.
