Premier League giants Manchester United are set to face League One side Barnsley in the third round of the EFL Carabao Cup at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening.

Erik Ten Hag’s managed side will be again competing for the Silverware which they lifted in the 2023-24 season. It was the first trophy for the Dutch manager as Manchester United boss. Following a difficult start in the Premier League with two consecutive defeats against Brighton and Liverpool respectively. The Red Devils are coming on the back of an elating 3-0 win over Southampton on the weekend.

On the other hand, the visitors, Barnsley suffered a 3-0 away defeat against Stevenage F.C. in their previous league outing in the third tier. Darrell Clarke has guided the Tykes to a respectful start having 10 points in hand only three points less than the table toppers Wrexham, and remain in play-off contention.

It should not be a major challenge for the hosts to make it through to the next round, meanwhile, the visitors will be also fancying their chances to hand the Red Devils some upset at Old Trafford in the midweek’s clash.
