Manchester City’s hearing on 115 charges will begin on Monday

The hearing on Manchester City’s 115 charges is reportedly set to begin on Monday, 16 September, revealed Sky Sports News on X. It will be held in private before an independent commission, and could last as long as two months.

City, the four-time defending Premier League champions, have alleged to have broken spending rules by failing to provide accurate information across nine years as well as subverting UEFA financial fair play rules.

The club denies all the allegations, with head coach Pep Guardiola even affirming that he’s been assured of no wrongdoing by them. However, with the hearing now set to go on floors next week, it begins a long saga towards the truth.

According to Premier League rules, if City are found guilty of those charges, it could lead to a point deduction, or in extreme circumstances, even expulsion from the English top division. Even then, the side is likely to appeal the decision.

An earlier statement by Manchester City read:

“Manchester City FC is surprised by the issuing of these alleged breaches of the Premier League rules, particularly given the extensive engagement and vast amount of detailed materials that the EPL has been provided with.”

Manchester City return to action on Saturday, 14 September with a Premier League game against Brentford at home.

Manchester City’s unprecedented fifth consecutive title bid has started positively

Even after winning four Premier League titles in a row, Manchester City are showing no signs of slowing down. They’ve won all three of their games in the new top-flight campaign so far and sit atop the league table with nine points, ahead of rivals Liverpool on goal difference. Although this is just the start, the Sky Blues have displayed incredible energy and spirit, akin to their performances during the four title sweeps. If Pep Guardiola’s side can keep up the momentum, more history will await this extraordinary side.
